West-side Midwest Style

Oculus Light Studio’s latest completed restaurant project Birdie G’s, alongside architects Montalba, has opened its doors in Santa Monica, CA! This is also the latest creation for Michelin-starred Chef Jeremy Fox, who has also been nominated multiple times for a James Beard Award.

Named after both Fox’s daughter and grandmother, this 5,000sf Midwestern style restaurant includes an outdoor patio, chef’s table, and main dining area, as well as a private dining room towards the back of the restaurant.

Chao-Wei Su, lead Oculus designer on the project, explains that “the lighting for the restaurant is a modern interpretation of comfortable rustic design and provides general illumination of all tables through carefully articulated trackheads above. Linear glow lights behind the banquettes accentuate a subtle, ambient environment during both night and day.”
