The BLOC, Los Angeles, CA

Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, The Bloc is a renovated mixed-use development transformed from a 40-year old closed-in shopping mall to an open, high-end retail, dining and public transit center. At the Grand Stair catenary mounted pendants invite patrons down from the street level to The Bloc’s hub, the central plaza. At mid-block entrances, guests are guided in with lighting weaving a line inspired by the LA metro map. Each fixture type was carefully selected for aesthetics suiting the exposed “raw materials” of the site, while keeping in mind functionality, budgets and long term maintenance.
