Seattle Studio Celebrates Local IES Recognition
Last week, our Seattle team had the pleasure of attending the 2025 IES Gloria Koch Leonidas Illumination Awards, hosted by IES Seattle at Block 41 in Belltown. The evening brought together a vibrant community of lighting professionals to celebrate outstanding projects from across the region. With multiple awards presented among various categories, it was an inspiring night highlighting the innovation and artistry driving Pacific Northwest lighting design.
We’re thrilled to share that our project, St. Callistus Chapel, received the IES Seattle Gloria Koch Leonidas Illumination Award for Interior Design. This recognition is especially meaningful for our Seattle team, as it marks our very first submission to the local IES chapter, and our first award.
Located in the undercroft of Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove, the St. Callistus Chapel presented a unique set of challenges that called for equally unique design solutions. Likhitha noted the primary hurdle was integrating lighting within a narrow 2″ slot already occupied by HVAC, speakers, sprinklers, and sensors. After extensive coordination, the solution was a custom modification of a standard double-head cylinder fixture with 1.5″ dia mounted on a compact backplate. Additional lighting was integrated into decorative quatrefoils in the chapel’s feature ceiling, despite plenum constraints. The resulting design evokes a sense of daylight in a windowless space and creates a tranquil environment that supports reflection and worship.
We’re proud to be a Contributor to the local IES chapter and grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received from the Pacific Northwest lighting community since opening our Seattle office in 2020.
A special thank you to SeaTac Lighting & Controls and The Lighting Group for sponsoring our seats at the event. And congratulations to all the other award recipients. We’re honored to be among such inspiring company!
