AIA Awards Several Oculus Projects!
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently announced the winners of its prestigious 2017 Design Awards for Los Angeles and Long Beach/South Bay. The projects listed below incorporated Oculus’ lighting design and how lucky are we to have been able to collaborate on such a fantastic range of community enhancing spaces! Check out the photos to get a glimpse of each along with a few of the jurors’ comments!
CITATION AWARD – AIA Long Beach/South Bay
Parasol Park
Architect – Studio One Eleven
Juror’s comment:
“This is a very welcoming space. The overall site planning and scale of elements within the site is thoughtfully executed and we appreciate how the roofline melds into the environment. This project could have benefited with the integration of more softscape and shade elements, as well as with less high-contrast photography, which renders the project a bit like a stage-set.”
CITATION AWARD – AIA Long Beach/South Bay
RDC-S111 Urban Office
Architect – Studio One Eleven/Retail Design Collaborative
Juror’s comment:
“This project is a well-executed, open, and collaborative space. It makes nice use of a large interior area and the individual workstations are welldesigned and integrate nicely into the overall workspace. The use of the exterior steel elements that wrap down from the overhang into the front landscape planter is an example of well-considered and well-placed detailing. This is a nice example of a tenant improvement project”
