Supporting Future Lighting Designers: The David L. DiLaura Fellowship

By Scott Hatton

Oculus Light Studio is a proud sponsor of the David L. DiLaura Industry Professor of Architectural Engineering Fellowship!  David DiLaura was a 26 year professor at the University of Colorado’s Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering department and the reason why the Lighting Design Program there is one of the top ranked in the country.

Now retired from teaching and back leading innovative research in the industry, David was not only a very demanding teacher but a tremendous advisor as well.  He was a major inspiration to his many students (myself included) and a big reason why so many of them have gone on to be leaders in the lighting design industry!  The purpose of the fellowship is to provide about $4,000 a year to be used as needed by the lighting design program.  So thank you to David DiLaura and both Teal Brogden and Don Kinderdick for their work putting the Fellowship together.
