Citizen Public Market
Downtown Culver City, CA is starting to get quite a facelift, especially with Amazon moving into their new offices at Culver Steps and at Culver Studios (both Oculus projects incidentally!). Now a new little market has come to light in a small historic building right across from all of the office action.
Opening its doors last year, Citizen Public Market houses four different vendors, each with their unique culinary flavor and feel. This 7,000sf food hall also has a roof deck and patio for diners to enjoy while they eat. Simple, effective lighting is utilized throughout, with some material and lighting surprises in the dining area and the restrooms!
The building used to house the press that printed The Citizen newspaper. References to the building’s past can be found at key locations inside. The building is a historic architectural landmark, and the lighting design has been kept simple, and effective, with minimal intervention.
