Oculus Wants You!

We are a growing, award-winning lighting design firm located in Santa Monica, California.  We are looking for a full time, entry to mid-level lighting designer to join our talented team and work on a variety of exciting projects located locally, nationally and around the globe.

Entry to Mid-Level Lighting Designer

About us:
We’re passionate about great lighting design, and how it can enhance the visual environment.  We believe in collaborative design, with ideas cross-pollinating a variety of project types. We try and make the process simple and fun, not just for us, but also for our clients and collaborators.  Look us up at oculuslightstudio.com.

About you:
You will be working in close contact with the principals and senior designers on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design, including marketing, design, project management, presentations and lighting calculations.  You have great organizational skills as you will be working on a number of lighting design projects at any given time.  You will be enthusiastic and resourceful, always looking for a unique perspective and a more efficient method to help us be the best. You are collaborative and believe that you succeed only when the team succeeds.   You challenge yourself and others. You innovate, are able to think outside the box and have strong ideas, and enjoy dialoguing with others who may differ from your point of view.  You can communicate your ideas both visually and verbally.

Travel would be part of the position, both domestic and international.

You will have 0-5 years’ experience.  You will have a college degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, or Architectural Engineering, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MSOffice, and InDesign. For mid-level consideration, you will have proficiency in AGI or similar program and 2-3 years of relevant professional lighting design experience.  Experience with Photoshop is preferred.  Knowledge of a foreign language (especially Mandarin Chinese) is a plus.  You will have authorization to work in the United States.

Benefits include a competitive salary, healthcare, participation in 401K plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, professional organization membership support and continuing education assistance.  If you fit the bill, submit a cover letter, resume, portfolio (pdf format only, not more than 8 MBs) and a writing sample to jobs@oculuslightstudio.com.
