Oculus Celebrates 9 IIDA Calibre Nominations
We are honored to share that Oculus Light Studio has been recognized with nine nominations for the 2026 IIDA Southern California Calibre Design Awards. With nominations in five different categories, this recognition reflects our versatility and the incredible partnerships behind every project.
The Calibre Awards celebrate the collaborative teamwork effort between clients, designers, and consultants. This year’s list of nominations showcases our ability to scale lighting solutions from intimate hospitality spaces to expansive, extra-large corporate campuses:
Work Medium:
- PUMA Studio (with West of West): A minimalist lighting palette complements the warm wood and concrete textures of this contemporary “atelier” and showroom environment.
- Confidential Medical Institute (with HOK): High-quality, wellness-oriented illumination supports both clinical precision and patient comfort within this modern medical facility.
Work Large:
- Gensler LA Office of the Future: Phase 2 (with Gensler): Adaptive lighting systems support a highly flexible, next-generation workplace, building upon the innovative success of Phase 1.
- Confidential Client Media Space (with Gensler): A high-performance lighting scheme balances the rigorous technical demands of media production with the sophisticated aesthetics of a premium office.
Work Extra-Large:
- White & Case LA Expansion & Renovation (with Perkins&Will): This sophisticated legal workspace features integrated LED detailing to emphasize natural stone textures and provide intuitive wayfinding throughout.
- Sony Picture’s Mid-Wilshire Campus (with RIOS): Unique decorative fixtures and tunable white lighting define this 225,000 SF creative hub, featuring an art-deco inspired lobby and a versatile 146-seat theater.
- Hudson Pacific HQ (with Gensler): Strategic lighting controls highlight the intersection of sustainability and luxury, achieving significant energy efficiency for this Class-A headquarters.
- Confidential Media Campus (with Terrain): A seamless indoor-outdoor transition connects the 14-acre campus landscape with state-of-the-art production facilities through integrated architectural and site lighting.
Hospitality & Retail:
- Maydan Market (with NCA Studio): Inspired by global night markets, this design utilizes layered, atmospheric lighting and handcrafted fixtures to create a vibrant, fire-lit hospitality experience.
