Archit Jain Judges Lightfair Innovation Awards
Oculus Principal Archit Jain was one of three judges representing the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) for the Lightfair Innovation Awards, presented in a ceremony on June 3, 2014 in Las Vegas.
In all, over 250 products were judged by a panel of 7 judges representing the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the IALD. The products were divided in 14 categories with a top award in each category, and 4 other main awards.
Archit announced the Design Excellence Award, which was presented to the Moon Bollard by Hess America. One of the judges’ remarked on the bollard, “This luminaire is Art – it is sculptural and beautiful.”
The Open fixture by Peerless won the Most Innovative Product of the Year. The product has no lens, an “indirect” internal optic, and a low-glare and pleasant aesthetic.
“The judging was a grueling 2-day process, with almost no breaks from start to finish. However, it was a rewarding experience with a sneak peek at the newest and latest lighting innovations. It was also a chance to work together with other lighting designers—something that we do not get to do on a regular basis,” says Archit.
We look forward to utilizing some of the newest lighting technology in our upcoming projects.
