Aviron, Los Angeles, CA

Aviron in French means “rowing”. Following this film production company’s mission to “unite and move forward”, the architectural and lighting strategies were developed to suggest the journey of a boat through streaming waters. Using this narrative, the lighting guides us from a rippling “waterfall” at the entry, through a flowing corridor past the stroking paddles of decorative pendants in the conference room, to the final destination of the lounge where the structure of the boat’s joists is celebrated with warm cove lighting. The lighting design succeeds as an integral part of the design narrative, reinforcing the architectural character of the space and enhancing the experience within this immersive creative work environment.
